These are the Canadian number-one albums of 1978 as compiled, both dated for Saturdays, by RPM (1964 – 2000)[1] and Nielsen Soundscan (the latter published by Jam! Canoe, issued every Sunday and appearing in Billboard magazine as Top Canadian Albums).
The two charts show some notable differences, with #1 albums one one chart often only reaching #2 on the other. Number one albums on the RPM 100 chart that did not top the Nielsen Soundscan version were:You Light Up My Life (Debby Boone), Foot Loose & Fancy Free (Rod Stewart), City to City (Gerry Rafferty), Shadow Dancing (Andy Gibb), Some Girls (The Rolling Stones), Don't Look Back (Boston), Let's Keep It That Way (Anne Murray) and Elvis: A Canadian Tribute (Elvis Presley). Bat Out of Hell (Meat Loaf) hit number one on the Nielsen Soundscan chart but did not top the RPM 100.
